OUDTSHOORN NEWS - Teboho Mosola (26) was very surprised to see his company, Mosola Game Studios, ranking 5th in South Africa on 42 Matters.
Mosola received this rating based on the downloads his mobile games accumulated.
As a youngster, Mosola used to play console games and ended up frustrated with the characters. He always wanted to improve on them.
At the start of 2020, Mosola's girlfriend inspired him to develop his own game, and during Covid-19 he developed the Barber Shop Hair Cut Simulator.
This game's niche was for the South African market and only received five downloads in a month.
He soon realised that not everybody understands English, Afrikaans and Xhosa and started to gain assistance in releasing his next game in more languages.
Mosola gained a lot of experience with the development of his first game and soon after that, he released his second game, Super Warrior Adventure, which received 20 000 downloads in only one day.
This game was meant for the international market and is available in English, Afrikaans, French and Portuguese.
Mosola pins his success down on evaluating what he did wrong with his first game and rectifying this mistake with the release of his second game.
He says that he would one day want to go big, but at this stage, he is the developer, programmer, artist, graphic designer and sound engineer of his own games.
"I learned the hard way. You have to cater for the market out there. My target is to reach the entire world with my games."
His next goal is to translate his games into German as well.
Mosola Game Studios currently own two games that were downloaded more than 230 000 times.
