Vigilant members received information which they immediately followed up and pulled over a truck that was en-route to Cape Town in Donkin Street, Beaufort-West on Sunday, 24 May at approximately 16:35. The members discovered 56 bags containing dagga with a weight of about 1.9 ton in the truck following a search that ensued.
The find is estimated to be worth about R3.8 million.
The 35-year-old driver of the truck was arrested and is scheduled to appear in the Beaufort-West magistrates’ court today.
