OUDTSHOORN NEWS - Residents of Oudtshoorn are asked to show their support for one another during the devastation of the Covid-19 pandemic by all lighting a candle at the same time.
The initiative was sparked by a similar one done in Villiersdorp recently when hundreds of residents lit candles and stood outside their houses and places of business.
“We want to ask all our residents to light a candle at 18:00 on Thursday 12 August, and to step onto the sidewalk with their candles,” said Ingrid Noble, the lady who arranged the huge Jerusalema challenge in Oudtshoorn last year.
Jaco Vorster, chairman of the Oudtshoorn Business Chamber, said this initiative goes beyond Covid.
“It is not only to remember those who have lost their lives due to the pandemic. It is also to support those who have lost their livelihoods and to give encouragement after the spate of violence in certain parts of the country.”
