OUDTSHOORN NEWS - A group exhibition, WE MADE IT! is being presented by ArtKaroo on 29 April. Artist, Janet Dixon, says the pandemic has forced us to rethink everything.
"What has meaning? What has substance? Income streams have evaporated and the human company is at a premium."
In this climate of uncertainty, she says, artists have been doing what they do best - "creating from their own vantage point of truth".
Against this background, ArtKaroo has given a handful of artists who have long-term ties with the gallery, as well as some newer ones a platform to participate in this "pop-up" exhibition at Dixon's home.
Artists who will be exhibiting and performing on 29 April and whose work will be open for viewing till 2 May are, Janet Dixon, Wilhelm Vincent, Lisl Barry, Ina Marx, Susqya Williams, Lizel von Wiellingh, Peter Engelbrecht, Ulrich Chelius and the artists from the group 'Arteritis'.
The exhibition opens at the ArtHouse, 237 Jan van Riebeeck Street on 29 April at 18:30. The collection can also be viewed on www.artkaroo.co.za and more information is available by e-mailing arthouse@artkaroo.co.za
