OUDTSHOORN NEWS AND VIDEO - A wildfire is currently active and smouldering in the Greater Oudtshoorn Municipal area near the Raubenheimer Dam.
The wildfire was reported at 13:25 today to the Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) Emergency Call Centre.
GRDM's objective for the night is to bush-beat the southern line of the wildfire, while a drop in temperature is expected tonight, which will make firefighting operations easier.
The GRDM pulled in aerial resources today to prevent the wildfire from spreading to nearby infrastructure, which proved to be a success.

Aerial firefighting will possibly be dispatched tomorrow morning at first light, depending on progress made tonight.
According to the latest report, five (5) GRDM Firefighters, a tanker, and a skid unit are on the scene.
The GRDM firefighters are assisted by ten (10) firefighters from Cape Nature who are tasked to block the wildfire from spreading to the Rus & Vrede Road north of the scene. Cape Nature owns this land.
Early tomorrow morning, twenty-three (23) Working on Fire (WoF) Firefighters will join ground teams to suppress the wildfire.
