NATIONAL NEWS - As the election results become available the DA’s support in the Western Cape stood at 51,38% as at 08:50 this morning.
Trailing in second place was the ANC with 19,47%, followed by the PA in third with 12,95%.
The EFF was 4th with 3,93%, the CCC had 2,55%, Aljama had 1,46%, Good 1,35%, VF Plus 1,35%, ACDP at 1,14% and in tenth spot ARA with 0,73%.
The MK party managed to get 1 213 votes or 0,48% of the vote.
Nationally the ANC was in the lead with 42,8%, followed by the DA at 25,56, then the EFF with 8,28% and the MK on 7,83% .
In KwaZulu-Natal MK Party on 42% was leading by a huge margin with the ANC in second with only 19,32%. The IFP was hot on the ANC’s heels with 18, 41%.
It’s still early days with millions of ballot papers still waiting to be counted, but elections analyst Dawie Scholtz says the ANC has lost its majority in KZN.
These figures represent 11% of the national vote counted.
