GARDEN ROUTE AND KAROO NEWS - Two suspects were arrested yesterday, Thursday 23 May after 1 896 Mandrax tablets were found in their vehicle at a roadblock on the N9 near Herold.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, police and traffic officers pulled over a Toyota Yaris after which they found a parcel concealed under the passenger seat.
The vigilant members opened the parcel and found Mandrax tablets stashed inside.
"Police confiscated 1 896 mandrax tablets and arrested the two occupants on a charge of dealing in drugs. The suspects aged 31 and 39, both from Cape Town, remains in police custody. They will appear in court once charged," said Spies.
Meanwhile, a 34 year old man was scheduled to appear in the Ladismith Magistrate's Court on yesterday following his arrest on a charge of dealing in drugs.
Ladismith Crime Prevention Unit members were strategically deployed on the R62 when they stopped a suspicious vehicle.
A search of the vehicle ensued and the members found 2007 mandrax tablets as well as 200g tik concealed in two 5 litre wine boxes.
The members confiscated the find and arrested the man.
