SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - Mediclinic George is on the annual top 20 South African hospitals list of Discovery Health for 2016.

The list, released this week, is based on the results of the most recent Discovery Health Patient Survey Score (PaSS) initiative.

Mediclinic George manager Kassie Karstens is highly pleased. "The results show us that the hospital's strategy to put patients first is bearing fruit. I am proud of the team effort of our personnel and the doctors."

Asked about aspects that are challenging to service delivery, Karstens said, "We are challenged by space and capacity as well as ageing facilities, but the plans to build a new hospital are on track. 

Up until the time we can move into the new building, we will continue using our current facilities to the best of our ability to ensure that we remain a top hospital with top doctors to render the best medical service. Thank you to our patients for entrusting their health care to us. We are proud to be able to give this level of service to our community."

Eight Mediclinic hospitals are on the list. Life Bay View in Mossel Bay is also among the top 20. 

Hospitals are listed alphabetically and not according to performance. The other Mediclinic hospitals on the list are Cape Gate, Ermelo, Hoogland, Louis Leipoldt, Milnerton, Panorama and Stellenbosch.

This was the third year the PaSS initiative was run.
