MOTORING NEWS AND VIDEO - Buying the right second-hand car will save you tons of money and ensure that you have a pre-loved companion for many years to come.
This is a promise York Auto stands by.
The appearance of the showroom is a strong indication of the care a dealer takes, and arriving at York Auto at short notice, I was pleased to find a spotless showroom with the vehicles neatly displayed.
York Auto was established in 2007 by Danie von Mollendorff sr, who has more than 40 years' experience in the vehicle industry.
Those in the know say there is nothing about used cars that he doesn't know.
Danie has passed on his passion for vehicles to his son and Danie jr told me choosing a pre-loved vehicle to sell is an enormous undertaking. Every vehicle they buy is thoroughly checked for any signs of malfunctioning or having been in an accident. They also do a thorough investigation on the service history. They don't consider the service book alone as enough evidence, and phone the dealership where the vehicle was serviced to see if the service history correlates.
Judging by which parts they see have been replaced, they can tell what the vehicle was used for and if it had been in an accident. All the panels are checked for panel beating and repairs. Added to this, York Auto spends money "pimping" their vehicles for the high-end buyer.
York Auto specialises in catering for the high-end business person and family. Selling SUVs is a speciality.
Danie jr says they offer the normal six-month dealership warranty, or an optional standard or up-market warranty or service plan. "We have the best finance ladies in George, who go out of their way for our clients," he proudly promises.
