ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Those with a taste for serious theatre leaning towards the dark side with psychological suspense and romance, should book a seat for The Collector - soon to be showcased at the George Arts Theatre.
Showtimes are on 25 & 26 August and 1 & 2 September at 19:00, with a matinee at 14:00 on 2 September.

The Collector is produced by Lady Godiva Theatre Productions with Ilze Tulleken as director. The two leads are performed by Chrisma Theron and Dirk van Staden.
The play tells the captivating story of Frederick Clegg, a socially awkward and introverted butterfly collector who becomes obsessed with the beautiful and enigmatic art student, Miranda Grey. He devises a chilling plan to capture and possess Miranda, locking her away in his secluded basement. Miranda's survival instincts and the complex bond between captive and captor are explored in this drama.
More about the actors
Dirk van Staden fell in love with drama and the theatre at an early age. When he was nine, he joined the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy Garden Route and remained a member until he was 17. Dirk became actively involved at the George Arts Theatre at the age of 12 and has performed in almost every show at the theatre from 2016 to 2019, including Shakespeare Festivals. Dirk is a very skilled dancer and a competent stage hand. The Collector is his debut as a dramatic actor.
Chrisma is an experienced drama actress and a Fleur de Cap nominated actress with an honors in theatre acting from the University of Stellenbosch, specialising in characterisation. Chrisma has been involved at the George Arts Theatre since 2013. She is a principal of the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy Garden Route and is also the head of Lady Godiva Theatre Productions, which produced Steel Magnolias in 2022.
