OUDTSHOORN SPORTS NEWS - Over the weekend Oudtshoorn's Yolande de Villiers and her teammate Stephanie Wohlters won the sixth and final leg of the Momentum Medical Scheme Cape Pioneer Trek, by Biogen, in the elite women's class. The race ended at the Queen's Mall in Oudtshoorn with enthusiastic residents supporting the local and international participants well.
De Villiers said the race was seven days of diversity because of the routes that differed so much from the previous one.
"Every day was tough with its own challenges, but still enjoyable with the weather playing perfectly along. In terms of my preparation, we practiced constantly before the event, but one must also take into account that my partner signed up for the race only five days before the start and yet we managed three stage wins. It was a learning curve for her and tucked firmly under my wing, no doubt next year we will be back even stronger," De Villiers said.
Pieter du Toit and Marco Joubert from Imbuko DEV A and Efficient Insure Infiniti Racing respectively wrapped up the 2022 Momentum Medical Scheme Cape Pioneer.
