SWD Cricket, who had its first intake in 2014, will through this program continue to invest in local cricket talent and prepare elite players for first class and professional careers.
In the opening address, SWD Cricket CEO, Albertus Kennedy expressed his excitement with the 2014 intake which include promising players such as Richard Maree (SA Colts), Lance Roelfse (Warriors Cubs) and Hanno Kotze who already represented the SWD senior team.
History was also made with the inclusion of three female players as part of the intake: Miceala Andrews, Bianca Figland and Cecila Strydom.
The program will run between May and September and will be concluded with the Cricket South Africa Academies week which will take place in September. The SWD Cricket High Performance coach, André du Plessis, will manage the program.
