OUDTSHOORN CRICKET NEWS - The SA u.19 cricketer from SWD, Tyrese Karelse, has been identified as one of only six promising cricketers out of 1 200 potential cricketers onto the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Betway program.
CSA congratulated Karelse and outlined how he was selected onto this program. CSA and Betway have partnered in this program.
This program is a pilot project for a year and the six identified players will receive support towards their growth and be ambassadors to this program.
Funding and support will be made available to the value of R 90 000 for a year to bridge gaps that have been identified in Tyrese Karelse’s personal development.
Karelse, a scholar at Protea High School in Oudtshoorn, has made his first-class debut for SWD as an 18-year old in the previous 2019/20 season.
His career took rapid shape and soon after that he represented South Africa in the ICC u.19 World Cup that was hosted in South Africa during January and February this year.
"We are extremely grateful for this wonderful opportunity for a home-grown player," commented Jonathan Beukes, the Cricket Services Manager at SWD Cricket. "Tyrece has worked very hard and this support will hopefully enable him to represent South Africa senior team," he concluded.
