CRICKET NEWS - A devastating batting performance by their Garden Route Badgers batting heroes, Blayde Capell and Hanno Kotzé, secured Pacaltsdorp United the Petersen Trophy as winners of the Six Gun Grill SWD Premier League title on Tuesday 21 March.
Pacaltsdorp defeated Knysna Cavaliers by eight wickets and became the title holders for the first time since 2008/09, after they were promoted to the Premier League at the beginning of the season.
The defending champions, Cavaliers, batted first and posted a competitive 236/7 (in their allotted 50 overs) thanks their tail-enders Quinton Visagie (30 from 49 balls; 2x4) and Blake Linder (40 from 31 balls; 1x6, 3x4).
Kotzé scored a brilliant unbeaten century (112* from 71 balls; 4x6, 13x4) while Capell made 77 (from 73 balls; 3x6, 8x4) as they reached the target – 240/2 (after 31,4 overs).
