SCHOOLS NEWS - Western Cape schools and education districts have once again excelled at the National Education Excellence Awards.
The awards took place on Friday 29 August at the Sandton Convention Centre, and recognise outstanding achievement in terms of quality teaching and learning indicators.
Eden and Central Karoo
Bridgton Secondary School (Eden and Central Karoo) in Oudtshoorn won first place in the Upkeep and Maintenance of School Facilities: Secondary Schools category.
The Eden and Central Karoo District was the runner-up in both Highest NSC Participation versus Achievement in Mathematics 2022 – 2024 category and Highest NSC Participation versus Achievement in Physical Science 2022 – 2024.
Western Cape
The Western Cape swept the Top Performing Public Ordinary School in Quintile 5 category.
Ho?r Meisieskool Bloemhof (Cape Winelands) was awarded first place for the second year running, an outstanding achievement for Principal Maré Bosch and the team on this outstanding achievement.
Rhenish Girls’ High School (Cape Winelands) took 2nd place, moving up from 3rd place in the same category last year, while Rustenburg Girls’ High School (Metro Central) was ranked 3rd.

Excellence in District Leadership and Management:

Western Cape Education Minister David Maynier congratulated the Western Cape’s top performing district directors Noel Petersen (Cape Winelands), Brenda Robertson (Metro Central), Jewel Jonkers (Eden and Central Karoo) and Wendy Horn (Metro North).
