Tuks shaken by murder

NATIONAL NEWS - The family of Johan de Beer, whose body was discovered in a toilet cubicle at the University of Pretoria’s (UP) Hatfield campus early on Wednesday, is still trying to come to terms with the murder of the maintenance manager, musician and poet.

The 64-year-old De Beer was discovered by UP security staff Tuks with a plastic bag tied around his head, hands bound behind his back and in a kneeling position. Staff had launched an all-night search for the grandfather who had failed to return home from work on Tuesday afternoon.

“My mother Coosie had been unable to sleep and is in shock. I really do not know what to say,” Rohan de Beer, eldest son of the deceased said.
