Three police officers have been murdered this week in separate incidents in Gauteng and the Western Cape, bringing to 52 the number of police deaths this year.
A Hawks official was stabbed to death in Cape Town on Wednesday, a constable was killed in a shootout in Vosloorus later that day, and another constable was gunned down in Temba on Thursday morning.
Nhleko said society cannot stand by and watch the slaughter of those supposed to be protectors and has called on communities to help the authorities track down cop killers.
