GEORGE NEWS - Fancourt Homeowners' Association in George issued a statement this afternoon stating that one of its members tested positive for Covid-19 (coronavirus).
According to the statement, the member informed the hotel at 13:25 this afternoon, Thursday 19 March.
The member is not a George resident, but it is unclear where in South Africa he resides.
"The member stayed in a lodge on the estate for one night while competing in the annual club championships which took place between 13 and 14 March,” said Meredy Gibbs, estate manager.
“The member arrived on the estate early on Friday 13 March, and departed on Saturday afternoon. During this time, the member came into contact with various others members and staff. With their assistance, we have immediately started the internal tracing process to identify any members and staff who may have been in contact with them.
"We appreciate the member acting responsibly and notifying us immediately on receipt of their results, and we thank the member for their transparency and support."
Gibbs said that the member had travelled abroad recently.
