NATIONAL NEWS - In a vicious attack, three men tried to saw off a local triathlete’s legs with a chainsaw in the early hours of Tuesday.
Mhlengi Gwala was training near the University of Kwazulu-Natal just after 3am when he was jumped and dragged into the bushes by three men.
The men reportedly showed no interest in robbing him, instead pinning him to the ground before using the chainsaw to try cut off his leg.
For unknown reasons, the men broke off their attack and left, after which Gwala managed to drag himself along the ground back to the road and flagged down a passing motorist.
