NATIONAL NEWS - An official statement was received from the police following an earlier report by George Herald on the death of André Naudé in Parow this afternoon, 12 June.
Provincial police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, said crime scene experts and Anti-Gang Unit detectives are currently combing the crime scene for clues after a shooting incident that left one man dead and another injured.
Authorities have not yet officially confirmed Naudé’s identity, but reliable sources close to the investigation confirmed it is him.
“According to reports from the scene at approximately 14:40 on Voortrekker Road, a vehicle pulled up next to the deceased who was in the company of three other men and the occupants of the vehicle fired several shots. A 55-year-old man was killed and another, aged 61, was wounded. Two other males, aged 45 and 54, escaped injury,” said Van Wyk.
The wounded victim was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. A case of murder and attempted murder were opened for investigation.
No arrests have been made yet.
