PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Sunshine. This is how friends and family describe Benjamin Bezuidenhout, who succumbed in a tragic snorkelling incident off the Greek coast last week.
The 20-year-old former Knysna High School learner was working on a catamaran for a boat company at the time.
It is believed that he went snorkelling in the sea north of the town of Sami, on the island of Kefalonia, last Thursday. When he didn't return, the alarm was raised and a search ensued.
According to Greek authorities the Hellenic Coast Guard, private vessels, a diver, and an Hellenic Air Force helicopter participated in the search.
His body was, however, found in the water near where they were anchored in the gulf of Sami the following morning.
The exact circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
