Jiam Liang Hong‚ 26‚ and Guohui-Li‚ 35‚ were found guilty of contravening the Marine Living Resource Act.
They were arrested earlier in May at Klein Eike Farm‚ Genadendal‚ in the Overberg‚ and their sentences at Bellville Regional Court on Monday followed a plea bargain.
They admitted operating a fish processing establishment without the right to do so and possession of abalone without the necessary permit.
The day before the men were sentenced‚ a tip-off led to police uncovering an illegal abalone processing facility at a house in Grassy Park‚ Cape Town.
