WESTERN CAPE NEWS - Two people have already died on roads in the province. The one is a 17-year-old male from Pacaltsdorp and the other a 41- year- old cyclist from Observatory in Cape Town.
Kenny Africa, provincial traffic chief, says various traffic offences were recorded.
A motorist from George were recorded being four times over the legal limit, says Africa. He says according to their weekend alcohol blitz and random breath testing statistics for Friday 27 September about 865 vehicles were stopped.
“363 Drivers were tested for alcohol, of which 16 was arrested for drunken driving.”
He says other motorists were arrested for fraudulant documentation, disorderly behaviour, reckless/negligent driving, excessive speed and an arrest for dagga.
Africa says 139 fines to the value of R205 100 were given.
