OUDTSHOORN NEWS - The CP Nel Museum, in celebration of the International Museum Day on 18 May, hosted an English speech contest on 26 May.
This is the first round that Grade 10 and 11 students from Oudtshoorn participated in. Only learners that have English as a second additional language were allowed to participate.
The five topics that the students had to choose from, focused on museums and their importance in communities around South Africa.
The top five students that went through to the next round are:
- Jaydene Pietersen, first place (Auriel College);
- Wendolene Booysen, second place (Protea High School);
- Tamlyn Manchest, third place (Bridgton Secondary School);
- Lenicah Maarman, fourth place (Auriel College);
- Briancé Carelse, fifth place (Oudtshoorn High School);
The winning learners will represent the CP Nel museum at the gala contest evening in September and will be up against Mossel bay, George, Beaufort West and Prince Albert.
