GEORGE NEWS - A group of ladies are set to take part in the upcoming Dust for Glory Challenge (D4G) at Wilgewandel Holiday Farm in Oudtshoorn on Saturday 19 October, with a special cause in mind.
The idea to take part in the annual D4G obstacle course race was sparked at a birthday party earlier this year, and has now become a fundraising effort for Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need (Odin), a local animal rescue organisation with kennels in George and Oudtshoorn.
They call their fundraising initiative Ponde vir Pote (Pounds for Paws).
The team has printed QR codes on their shirts, linked to Snapscan, enabling supporters to easily donate any amount by scanning the code.
"We chose Odin because of the great work they do in rescuing and caring for animals in need," says Theresea Pieterse.
The innovative use of Snapscan means that donations can be made not only during the event but also afterwards, as long as the participants continue to wear the shirts with the QR code.
The group hopes that their efforts will inspire others to take part in similar initiatives, supporting various causes through future events.
