OUDTSHOORN NEWS - The Oudtshoorn Infantry School Football Club recognised their players during a formal dinner and special awards ceremony for soccer players who participated during the ABC Motsepe League Season 2024/2025 on Friday 11 July.
Among the guests were speakers who shared insightful and motivational speeches.
The captain of the Infantry School Football Club, Mojalefa Mpitso, expressed his appreciation towards his fellow teammates and encouraged players to stay focused as they prepare for the upcoming season.
In the absence of the head coach, Ricardo Williams, the head of the technical support team for the Infantry School Football Club, Sam Kekana, delivered a memorable and very encouraging speech. His message to the players was very inspirational and strong and he stated: "We do not sleep, we prepare and face fresh challenges. Always have respect and seek respect, have a love for the game, let us stay hungry, humble and united."
Mandilakhe Matika from the Oudtshoorn Department of Cultural Arts and Sports branch encouraged and invited the Infantry School to rebuild their relationship with each other and made a commitment, to support the club as they proceed making Oudtshoorn proud.
Gabriel Majolla, the chairperson of the Oudtshoorn Local Football Association, indicated that the new season will commence around September. He advised the team to focus on the future and used the past mistakes as a guide to rebuild and become a stronger club. He applauded the Infantry School for being the first military unit that is very inclusive having a junior team with ages 7 until 17 boys and girls.
Major Desiree Mawela, the chairperson of Infantry School Football Club, announced that the club aims to rebuild and not hold on to past mistakes. Mawela reminds the players that the words, team and oneness, have no letter 'I'. They must unite sharing the same goals and visions to rebuild the Infantry School Football Club and excel as they move forward during the upcoming season.
Lieutenant colonel Supiso Vincent Nakin, the appointed vice chairperson, encouraged and motivated the players to work hard as they will be leaving soon for SA Army Championships in Dunnotor from 20 until 27 July.
After the formalities the special awards ceremony took place.

The evening was concluded with a delicious three-course meal, dancing and entertainment. The Officer Commanding Infantry School Col Tiisetso Sekgobela hosted the function for the team. Mawela and colleages are thankful for his kind gesture.
