OUDTSHOORN NEWS - The Oudtshoorn Infantry School stands tall as one of the premier institutions in the SA Army and the South African National Defence Force, responsible for keeping alive the glorious tradition of producing excellent soldiers and officers.
So said major general R Maphwaynya, officer commanding SA Army Infantry Formation, during a SA Army Formation parade at the Oudtshoorn Infantry School on Friday.
Proceedings started with a display of traditional dancing by different platoons, followed by a free fall demonstration by four parachutists of 44 Para Regiment.

According to Maphwaynya serving in the Infantry can be a challenging, exciting and rewarding career.
"The job is physically demanding and often involves operating within high-stress and dangerous environments.
"We have a vision of South Africa in which black and white will live and work together as equals in conditions of peace and prosperity," Maphwaynya said.
"The South African Army Infantry Formation is the core component of the landward defence capability of the SANDF and the people of Souith Africa must now be told that the infantry has been the largest single element in the SA Army."
