CALITZDORP NEWS - Five members of Calitzdorp Police were honoured for long and loyal service and decades of unwavering commitment to public safety.
The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, led a prestigious medal parade at the Kwanonqaba sportsgrounds in Mossel Bay on Thursday 11 December.
The event recognised 135 dedicated members from the Garden Route and Central Karoo Districts who received 10, 20 and 30 year faithful service medals.
The ceremony was attended by deputy provincial commissioners, provincial heads, station commanders, local councillors, representatives from partner departments, police officials and proud family members of those honoured.
Patekile praised the men and women on parade who collectively represent years of policing experience.
He thanked them for their unwavering service to the country.
He commended their commitment, especially in the ongoing fight against gender-based violence and femicide, which remains a challenge in the region.
"These medals are symbols of hope that we still have loyal and committed members within the service. We also celebrate the sacrifices men and women in blue make daily to keep our communities safe," said Calitzdorp Station Commander, Capt Lorens Mtanda.
