OUDTSHOORN NEWS - Oudtshoorn artist Samantha Jordaan has completed a series of oil paintings for the Klein Karoo Klassique featuring the CP Nel Museum and the feather market.
She did this while studying art therapy through the Art Therapy Academy in Cape Town.
About the colourful paintings she remarked, "What a wonderful colourful subject to paint."
"When you reach the corner of Baron van Reede and Langenhoven streets, you know you have arrived in Oudtshoorn. You are met by this lovely, eye-catching splash of colour, vibrating with the heat, history and heart of the Karoo.
The feather sellers spend their day in the shadow of the beautiful sandstone building, which is now the CP Nel Museum."
"I have painted most of the women to create the feeling of getting a glimpse of the scene as you drive by. I had so much fun painting this series and it's my pleasure to share it with you."
At the Klein Karoo Klassique, Oudtshoorn artist Samantha Jordaan will showcase a series of paintings of the women that sell their feather dusters in Baron van Reede Street.
Samantha, who taught art while she lived in George, also enjoys fashioning figures and abstract works using copper and aluminium wire. She created an outdoor/indoor lamp with interactive ball track which is currently exhibited at Art Karoo Gallery in Oudtshoorn.
The artist celebrates life, beauty, colour and people who make the world a better place.
"I work in many applications and undertake commissions. I see myself as an art coach or teacher and an art counsellor giving therapy," she says.
