DYSSELDORP NUUS - A dream wedding recently took place at the Lutheran Church in Dysselsdorp between Henlo Tarentaal and Deidre-Ann Prins to the joy of both couple's families and the community.
The wedding was officiated by Reverend Tanelle Welff-Dixon of the In Christ United (ICU) which is a part of the, TWM Foundation, a non-profit based in Cape Town.
Welff-Dixon is also a radio announcer at the local Oudtshoorn radio station, HeartBeat 107.4 FM.
The wedding is a result of, Deidre-Ann's expressing her wish to one day be married to her long-time boyfriend Henlo during a church breakfast event also held at the same Lutheran church several months earlier.
Prins explained that not having money or a wedding dress was a big challenge for them. Welff-Dixon was first to respond and agreed to make the couple's dream come true and offered to officiate the wedding at no cost.
Several other people joined in and quickly a wedding dress, wedding cakes, decor and catering and other necessities for a real wedding were raised.
The bonus was when Henlo got on one knee and proposed to Deidre-Ann in front of those attending to the applause of everyone.
What made the occasion extra special was that Henlo was still prepared to marry Deidre-Ann despite her already having had three children, none of which are his.
At the ceremony, Welff-Dixon applauded the couple for honoring God by getting married and wished them well for the future. The Dyssellsdorp community, as well as all the donors, were also thanked for their support in realising the couples' dream which they considered the best Christmas present ever.
Welff-Dixon reminded the wedding guest that the Bible teaches us that we are God's hands and feet on this earth and that this successful wedding showed that people can still work together for the common good. She also praised Henlo for, "stepping up to the plate" and showed by his actions that he really love both Deidre-Ann and her three children which was an inspiration for the community.
