NATIONAL NEWS - In a statement on Wednesday night, power utility Eskom announced that it would need to cut 2,000MW from the national grid throughout Thursday, starting at 8am.
They had earlier in the week implemented stages 4 and 3, but were able to slightly improve the situation by having replenished diesel and water reserves.
They returned one unit to service, meaning load shedding would be at stage 2. Please check your local load shedding schedules to see how you will be affected.
The statement added that the strike by labour federation Cosatu had not impacted them, although the power grid remained vulnerable and the situation could escalate on Thursday.
