LADISMITH NEWS - Members of the Ladismith Crime Prevention Unit and Oudtshoorn Crime Intelligence acted on information received about illicit drug activity on Wednesday, 29 September, and stopped a minibus taxi on the R62 near the entrance to Ladismith.
On searching the vehicle, the police officers found four 2,5 kilogram packets of white bread flour among the luggage of a passenger on board.
A further search of these packets led to the discovery of 980 Mandrax tablets and 611 "bankies" of Tik, concealed in these packets. The estimated street value is R75 000.
The police confiscated the drugs and arrested a 48-year-old woman on a charge of dealing in drugs.
Preliminary investigations indicated the vehicle was en route from the Cape Metropole to the Klein Karoo.
The woman appeared in the Ladismith Magistrate's Court on Friday, 1 October 2021.
