GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - In a statement issued by the Oudtshoorn municipality, on 17 January at 18:05, indicated that the fire is still active in the Swartberg Mountains.
The fire spread to inaccessible terrains, and four ground crews were sent to these terrains. They were stationed at the Cango Mountain Resort.
The actions included; ground crews deploying inaccessible areas and monitoring inaccessible areas in line with infrastructure. However, due to weather conditions, the ground crews were removed from the terrains.
Oudtshoorn Fire Department is still on standby to assist should their services be required. No structures or people are under threat. The helicopters from George aren't able to access the terrain, due to low visibility, and no aerial support is available for now. Cape Nature is still attending to the fire as it is mainly on their property.
