SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - Garden Route and Central Karoo Health teams won numerous awards at the annual Boundary Spanning Awards ceremony as part of the 2020 Health Indaba held in Somerset West from 18 to 19 February.
Team excellence and collaboration were celebrated at an Innovation Exhibition where innovations by selected health teams were showcased.
The innovations ranged from service delivery improvements and cost saving to systems and processes enhancements.
Through the 2020 Boundary Spanning Leadership Awards, 28 team leaders were recognised for having the courage and commitment to convene teams to step out of comfort zones and into learning zones.
These awards were given to the teams that showed future-thinking and showcasing agility, efficiency and purpose. The leaders of the teams embody five critical skills: the ability to connect, collaborate, learn, adapt and handle complexity.
The Central Karoo team earned their award for strengthening COPC (Conceptualising Community Oriented Primary Care) through community outreach, integrating comprehensive palliative care into the everyday routine, reintegrating eye care into PHC in the rural districts and safe obstetric services in Garden Route and Central Karoo.
The Garden Route and Central Karoo Health Team won several accolades at the Boundary Spanning Awards.
