George Van Heerden and Annerie Dercksen scoop Garden Route Badgers top awards

Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers, batting hero George van Heerden, won the prestigious Garden Route Badgers Player of the Season award at their annual awards breakfast ceremony that was held at the Wilderness Hotel in George on 21 June. Proteas Women all-rounder, Annerie Dercksen, who excelled for the Proteas women’s team at international level and was a star player for the Garden Route Badgers women’s team in the Hollywoodbets professional women’s competition won the Garden Route Badgers Women’s player of the season award.Van Heerden was the top runs scorer for the Badgers across all formats and was the overall top runs scorer in the Division 2 Four day competition, he scored 515 runs with a highest score of 174 at an average of 64.37 with two centuries and two half-centuries. Dercksen also received the Simon Swigelaar Floating Trophy for her outstanding achievements, including the award as ICC newcomer of the Year for 2024.
