GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Linél Engelbrecht was selected to participate in the Oudtshoorn Youth Cycling Festival that took place from 25 to 28 June.

The road race and team time trial took place on day one at the Highgate Ostrich Show Farm with more than 260 youth cyclists from the Eastern Cape, Cape Winelands, Cape Metropole and Eden competing.

The Road Race was held in the morning and the team time trial event in the afternoon.

Linél had an excellent day, claiming two gold medals by winning the girls' U15 road race convincingly and then she was successful in the team time trial in the afternoon.

The excitement ran high as the team won the time trial with 20 odd seconds to spare and the result was only decided once the last team crossed the finish line.

Linél had to withdraw after day one as she had to leave for Howick, KwaZulu-Natal, to participate in the SA Duathlon Championships, where she finished in a credible 6th place.
