NATIONAL NEWS - Afriforum’s Advocate Gerrie Nel says he is studying the developments around the Gupta leaked emails, in case the need arises to privately prosecute those implicated in state capture.
Civil rights organisations the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) and Afriforum have indicated that if the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) decides not to prosecute President Jacob Zuma's allies implicated in state capture, they will pursue their own private prosecution.
Afriforum CEO Kallie Kriel says they will give the NPA three months to decide whether they will prosecute anyone implicated in state capture or it will give instructions to advocate Nel to seek a private prosecution.
“If there’s no progress I think that’s when we should start with putting pressure on them and then for the process to start.”
