The figure was $30 million more than had been allocated under the budget.
According to a financial statement from the consolidated revenue fund, $53 million was spent on foreign travel last year, that’s well over the 23 million dollars allocated in the budget.
The private Financial Gazette paper reported on Thursday that these travel expenses relate specifically to the office of the president and cabinet.
It says the figure is double the amount allocated to public hospitals.
Official travel expenses in 2017 are also likely to be high.
